Johnson arrested on assault charges

A Columbia man was arrested early this (Tuesday) morning on assault charges.

According to probable cause statements, 46-year-old Terrence Gerome Johnson arrived at a home that he frequently visited at about 11:35 p.m. last night, clearly intoxicated.

According to a witness, Johnson threatened to harm the residents of the home if they called the police.

When one of the residents called the police behind his back, Johnson reportedly struck the victim with his hands and attempted to strike them with a folding table, a light fixture, and a screwdriver.

The victims then called 911 again, and Johnson walked away from the house, but authorities found him laying in the woods near the residence, with a yellow screwdriver on his person.

Johnson was arrested and charged with 4th Degree Domestic Assault and Unlawful Use of a Weapon and is being held in the Boone County Jail without bond.
