Johnson guilty in infants death

A Boone County jury found a Fayette woman guilty of second degree murder and two counts of first-degree endangering the welfare of a child in the April 2021 death of Hannah Kent.

49-year-old Jennifer Johnson was found guilty in the death of the 8-month-old girl she was babysitting. The infant showed bruising and brain injuries consistent with recent trauma.

Johnson’s cell phone records showed messages regarding drugs that night, and a Missouri State Highway Patrol crime lab employee testified that residue found on one of Johnson’s bags tested positive for methamphetamine.

Investigators also testified to the fact they found baby formula and Hannah’s blood on Johnson’s clothing.

She will be held at the Boone County Jail until her sentencing, which should occur within six weeks.
