Jury trial has been set for Columbia man

A jury trial has been set for a Columbia man accused in two separate gun incidents earlier this year.

Joshua Abrams, 23, faces multiple charges including first-degree assault, armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon connected to an April 13 shooting on East Broadway.

He is also charged with two counts of unlawful use of a weapon, armed criminal action and driving while intoxicated in a separate shots fired incident on May 1.

Court records show the jury trial is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. on April 7, 2026, and is expected to last three days.

Abrams remains held without bond in the Boone County Jail. He appeared in court Monday to request a bond reduction, which was denied. A similar request made in May was also rejected.
