Logan charged in Wednesday night chase and crash

That police chase in Columbia that ended in a crash last (Wednesday), has resulted in multiple felony charges for a 21-year-old Columbia man.

Daylon Logan has been charged with driving without a license, kidnapping, stealing a car, fleeing a traffic stop and leaving the scene of an accident.

Officers say they tried to stop a speeding driver around 7 p.m., but the suspect, who didn’t have a valid license, took off. A chase ensued briefly on eastbound Interstate 70, before the accident happened near Brickton and Trimble Roads, close to the Broadway and U.S. 63 shopping area.

The chase ended when the suspect’s car hit a pickup truck, causing it to overturn. Police say the suspect tried to steal another vehicle while fleeing on foot but was quickly arrested in the parking lot of Slim Chickens in the 2600 block of Trimble Road.

Both the suspect and a passenger were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Logan is being held in the Boone County jail on a no-bond warrant. He is on probation for drug trafficking, resisting arrest and illegal gun possession.
