
A 28-year-old Missouri State Highway Patrolman from Macon was seriously injured in a two-vehicle fatality accident on Monday.
The accident happened in Sullivan County at 7:20 a.m., about 1½ miles east of Green City on Highway 6.
A 2006 Toyota Tundra, driven by a 25-year-old Milan man, was traveling eastbound when it crossed the center of the road and struck the troopers westbound 2023 Dodge Charger, head-on.
The Tundra overturned and came to rest on its side in the road, while the Charger traveled off the south side of the road. Both vehicles were totaled.
A 62-year-old woman from Milan, an occupant in the Tundra, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The 25-year-old man, and three other occupants, a 43-year-old woman, a 17-year-old boy, and a 21-year-old man, were seriously injured along with trooper and transported by ambulance to Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville.
A 46-year-old man from Milan also received moderate injuries and was taken to the same hospital.
Highway 6 was closed for approximately five hours while the patrol’s Major Crash Investigation Unit worked the scene.
