A 31-year-old Marthasville man is in serious condition after an accident yesterday (Tuesday) on Highway 54 in Callaway County. The wreck occurred at about 1:15 pm just east of Route F and shut down Hwy 54 for over an hour.

The man was driving a 2009 Honda CL1800 motorcycle westbound and rear-ended a 2010 Mercury Mariner, driven by a 61-year old Fulton man.

His bike then overturned. He was not wearing a helmet.

The Fulton man suffered minor injuries.

Both men were taken by ambulance to University Hospital in Columbia.
