The Mexico boys basketball team, ranked #7 in the latest Class 4 poll, went to the wire with Wentzville Holt Saturday afternoon at the Ramey Classic in Harrisburg.
Trailing by 10 points in the fourth quarter, Mexico battled back for a 62-61 win.
Mattai Holman tied it at 59 with a deep three with 1:07 left. Then a Kinser Groves put back of a missed Brady Thoeneen three put the Dawgs up 61-59 with 11.6 seconds left.
The Indians quickly tied the game and after a timeout, before Charlie Fischer was fouled going to the basket. He hit the first of two free throws for the final score.
Thoenen, who led the Bulldogs with 14 points, was named the Ramey Player of the Game.
