Last week, Boone Health announced a four-year extension with Anthem Blue Cross-Blue Shield. That’s not the case for MU Health Care and Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, which continue to be at a stalemate in discussions to provide 90,000 mid-Missouri patients insurance coverage.
So much so that Missouri Senate President Pro Tem, Cindy O’Laughlin, says she has asked the chair of the Insurance and Banking Committee to hold a public hearing at the end of the month regarding failed negotiations between the two.
Renewal of their contracts ended April 1st, with both parties blaming the other.
The Senate Insurance and Banking Committee will convene for the hearing at 1 p.m. June 30. The hearing comes as many MU Health Care patients, who were on a 90-day continuity of care plan with Anthem, will lose in-network access to their provider.
