A 58-year-old Moberly man was charged Sunday night with illegal gun possession and unlawful use of a weapon, after he allegedly pointed a rifle at two youths on a trail.
The youths were allegedly riding a four-wheeler on back trails when the vehicle broke down. One of the kids tried to restart it, when Jeffrey O’Neal picked up a rifle and pointed it at them. One of the youth ran away, while the other got the four-wheeler started and left the area.
O’Neal allegedly told law enforcement that the gun was loaded. He claimed he was using a “firing range,” but O’Neal is reportedly a convicted felon and isn’t allowed to have a gun.
He is being held at the Randolph County Jail on a $10,000 bond. A court date has not been set.
