The Missouri Department of Transportation and its Improve I-70 Program team will host a milestone celebration and ribbon cutting ceremony at 10:30 a.m. today near Columbia as crews are nearing the completion of three lanes of travel along seven miles of I-70 from approximately Callaway County Route J (mile marker 137) to Callaway County Route M (mile marker 144).
Improve I-70: Columbia to Kingdom City is the first in a series of projects within MoDOT’s Statewide Improve I-70 Program and will add a third lane of travel in each direction to I-70 between U.S. Route 63 in Columbia and Route 54 in Kingdom City, as well as make interchange improvements at the I-70 interchanges at both Route 63 and Route 54. The entire 20-mile project is scheduled to be complete in late 2027 with total program completion anticipated in late 2030.
