Multi-Agency Drug bust in Columbia


A significant drug bust took place Monday morning in Columbia as CPD’s Vice, Narcotics and Organized Crime Unit, working in coordination with the North Missouri Drug Task Force, the Boone County Sheriff’s Office and Homeland Security Investigations served a search warrant in Boone County.

Seized was approximately 56 pounds of suspected methamphetamine and a firearm.

Arrested were Hector Hernandez Medina, a 28-year-old illegal from the country of Mexico, and 49-year-old Ebonie Lewis, of Columbia. Hernanedez-Medina was arrested and charged with one count of first-degree drug trafficking and one count of second-degree drug trafficking.

Lewis was arrested and charged with first-degree drug trafficking, unlawful use of a weapon, unlawful possession of a firearm and possession of a controlled substance.

Investigators determined the methamphetamine was shipped from Mexico to Columbia through a commercial delivery service.

Hernandez Medina and Lewis are each being held at the Boone County Jail without bond.
