Nevels-McKee agrees to plea deal

35-year-old Whitney Nevels-McKee, of Columbia, pleaded guilty yesterday (Monday) in connection to the 2024 shots fired, kidnapping and carjacking incident in the parking lot of the Conley Road Walmart. She faces a sentencing hearing on Nov. 24th.

Nevels-McKee, was arrested in May 2024 and accused of stealing a gun, threatening multiple people in their cars in the parking lot, trying to hijack vehicles and shooting at multiple people.
The incident also caused the Conley Road Walmart to go into a lockdown and move hundreds of customers to the back of the building, according to a probable cause statement.

She agreed to a plead deal Monday in Boone County court that took her from 13 felony charges to amended felony charges of:

Vehicle hijacking — Armed criminal action — Second-degree kidnapping — Unlawful use of a weapon — Unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon — Attempted stealing of a firearm

At Monday’s hearing, prosecutors said that Nevels-McKee was a persistent offender, for previous drug and stealing incidents in 2013 and 2016. Prosecutors agreed to a sentencing cap of 25 years. and a judge will decide her sentence.
