Three people were injured in a two-vehicle accident in Pike County yesterday (Tuesday) evening.

The crash occurred at about 6 p.m. last night on Highway 54 near US 61.

One vehicle was a driven by a 27-year-old Vandalia man with a 21-year-old Vandalia woman as his passenger. The other car was driven by a 39-year-old Louisiana man.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol crash reports, the two Vandalia residents were taking a left turn and failed to yield, and as a result, the Louisiana man’s vehicle struck the passenger side of their car.

The Vandalia man was airlifted to hospital, while the Vandalia woman was transported by ambulance to the hospital. Both had serious injuries.

The Louisiana man was taken by private vehicle to Pike County Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.
