Randolph County credits Officers for saving life

Lifesaving commendations were presented to three area law enforcement officers today for their work on saving a person from a burning vehicle from May of this year.

Moberly Joint Communications dispatched emergency services to North 63 Highway for a vehicle that was upside down, on fire and a person was trapped inside.

A North Central Missouri Drug Task Force Detective was first on scene, and the detective began to attempt to remove the subject on his own without any protective equipment.

Moberly Police Department Corporal Russ Untiedt and Randolph County Deputy Trace Johnston arrived on scene and assisted with removing the person from the burning vehicle.

They were able to work together to remove the trapped subject. These law enforcement officers acted without hesitation and due regard to their own personal safety, saving the subject’s life.

After the subject was removed from the vehicle, he received medical attention from the Randolph County Ambulance District, and the fire was extinguished by the Moberly Fire Department.

The commendations were presented to Corporal Untiedt and Deputy Johnston, and will be to the unnamed detective, by Moberly Police Chief Bobby Calvert, Randolph County Sheriff Andy Boggs and North Missouri Drug Task Force Director Jason Ward.
