A masked gunman shot and critically wounded a woman in Versailles early this morning. Police were dispatched to the 100 block of South Burke Street at 7:34 a.m., for a report of a possible shooting.

Upon arrival, police found the woman unconscious with an injury to the head. She was taken to a local hospital and is in critical condition.

Police posted on Facebook that they believe the incident was of a personal nature. The suspect, who is described as wearing a pink hoodie, gloves, a mask and sunglasses, is still at large.

The Versailles Police Department has asked the Lake of the Ozarks Major Case Squad to assist in the investigation.
