A trial date is set for a Columbia man accused in the shooting death of a three-year-old.
Thirty-one-year-old Larry Brownlee Junior will face a jury beginning April 7, 2026. He’s charged with second-degree murder, unlawful possession of a firearm and armed criminal action.
Police say the shooting happened in September 2023 at a home on Leeway Drive. Officers found the child, Zy’mir Harris, after responding to a nearby crash. The boy’s mother gave conflicting reports about what happened.
Brownlee, who has pleaded not guilty, has been held without bond since his arrest. A pre-trial hearing is scheduled for March 30.
