A judge has been assigned to the Moberly murder case involving David Kip Heyde, age 68, who is accused of second-degree murder in the shooting death of 23-year-old Bailey Scott.
Judge Robert Koffman is presiding and a trial hearing is set for 1 p.m. today, November 7.
Heyde pleaded not guilty last month and remains jailed in Macon County.
According to court documents, Heyde a former city employee with an expired peace officer’s license, reportedly shot Scott twice after she allegedly hit him during an argument after she alleged he was “attempting to kill birds at the front of his property,” though police reports indicate Scott had no visible injuries to her hands.
