A homicide investigation from Ralls County ended with a Randolph County deputy being shot in Paris yesterday, and the 57-year-old perpetrator, Charles W. Amour, of Paris, dead of a gunshot wound.
The deputy did not sustain life-threatening injuries and is hospitalized at this time.
It is not known yet, whether Amour died of a self-inflicted wound, or from gunfire when deputies attempted to contact him regarding a fatal shooting near Monroe City early Sunday morning.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Randolph County deputies and investigators with the Division of Drug and Crime Control went to the home in Paris, near West Monroe and Walnut Street on the town’s northwest side, to help the Ralls County Sheriff’s Office with a homicide investigation just before 2 p.m.
They made contact with the person of interest, but the person shot at officers when they  attempted to enter the home, which is when the Randolph County deputy was struck.
The release says, officers shot back and left the home to wait for backup. That help came in the form of a SWAT team that entered the home just before 5 p.m, and found the man deceased.
