U.S. Supreme Court temporarily blocking S.N.A.P. benefits

in Washington, the U.S. Supreme Court has issued an emergency order temporarily blocking full food aid payments under the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program.

A lower court had ordered the Trump administration to issue full November benefits by Friday.

But the administration argued it lacked the funds and sought to continue partial payments instead.

After an appeals court refused, the Supreme court stepped in.

The program supports about one in eight Americans.

Some states say full payments had already gone out before the ruling.
