The Department of Veterans Affairs says it’s helped house the largest number of homeless veterans in seven years.
In the 2025 fiscal year, more than 51,900 veterans across the country were given permanent housing, 4,000 more than the year before.
The Veterans’ Hospital in Columbia, helped place 158 veterans, part of the nationwide “Getting Veterans Off the Street” initiative launched in May.
The VA says those outreach events have moved over 25,000 veterans into housing or shelter.
Officials call the progress life-changing and say they’re committed to ending veteran homelessness for good.
