Water rescue on Osage River

Busy day on the water yesterday for Cole County Emergency Services and Osage Fire Protection District. First responders rescued four people during a water rescue call Monday afternoon in the Osage River near Taos around 3:48 p.m.

The original 9-1-1 call was to help an individual that said he had lost his flotation device and was floating down the river, and that he had lost contact with three others in his party.

Fifty emergency responders were involved in this operation.

Two rescue boats traveling downstream located and rescued the male victim from the river. MSHP found the remaining victims onshore, according to the release.

Two of the patients were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
