City of Center Slowly Implementing Recommendations of State Auditor

Following the arrest of former Center city clerk Tracey Ray last year, the State Auditor’s Office recommended changes to implement to safeguard city finances.

A follow-up report out today (Wednesday) shows that some of the suggestions are being taken.

Of the eleven recommendations, one has been implemented, six have been partially implemented, two are in the implementation process and two have not been implemented.

The two recommendations not yet put in place are the publishing of semiannual financial statements and adopting a timely and statutorily correct budget.

Ray will be sentenced October 7 after pleading guilty to wire fraud and theft.
