High School football playoffs start tonight with round 1 in District play. Some of the games include:

  • California (6-3) at home against North Callaway (4-4)

  • Centralia (5-4) on the road against Montgomery County (6-3)
  • Battle at home against Liberty (Wentzville) (3-6)
  • Hickman (3-6) is on the road against Hazelwood Central (7-2)
  • Rock Bridge (4-5) travels to Liberty (6-3)
  • Eldon (3-6) hosts Southern Boone (3-6)
  • Harrisburg (7-2) at home playing Father Tolton (5-3)
  • Hermann (3-6) hosts St. Francis Borgia (1-8)

Mexico, Hallsville, Hannibal, Helias, Jefferson City and Palmyra all have first round byes.

The St. Louis Blues suffered their first loss of the season to the Colorado Avalanche 4-3 last night (Thursday) at the Enterprise Center.

Vladimir Tarasenko had a goal and an assist and Jordan Binnington made 38 saves for the Blues, who were playing without captain Ryan O’Reilly because of COVID-19 protocol.

Up next the Blues host the Chicago Blackhawks tomorrow night (Saturday).

The Green Bay Packers defeated the Arizona Cardinals 24-21 last night (Thursday).

It was the Cardinals first loss of the season and there are no remaining unbeaten teams in the NFL.
