Familiar Face Returns to the Mexico School District in New Role
Mexico School District #59 is pleased to announce the hiring of Ms. Amber Henderson to be the Director of Human Resources for the district. Currently, Ms. Henderson is the Senior Benefits Specialist for EquipmentShare, where she has been for the past year.
Ms. Henderson is not new to Mexico Public Schools. She started in 2013 as the secretary in the MMS guidance office. She then moved to Central Office in the Accounts Receivable position. During this time, she went back to school to finish her degrees in Business Administration and Human Resources, which she received from Columbia College. In 2017, she accepted the position of Business Manager for the district. After three years in that role, she had the opportunity to continue her HR career outside of the district. Though school finance was something she loved, HR is her true passion.
Ms. Henderson has three children, Alexis (14), Aleigha (13), and Ashton (9), and she loves spending time with them and outdoors. Her daughter and son both play travel ball, so a lot of weekends are spent at the ballfields. Both daughters play sports for MMS and MHS, and she loves watching those events as well. When they aren’t busy with sports, they enjoy time by the pool or golfing.
Ms. Henderson says, “I am extremely excited and honored to be coming back to Mexico Public Schools as the HR Director. Mexico is where I grew up, graduated from, and am proud to be a member of this community. I have so much respect for all the staff and faculty not only as a returning employee but as a district parent. Taking this new position and helping the district grow is an amazing opportunity that I don’t take lightly. In my time with the district, I worked strongly to build relationships with all and cannot wait to continue building those relationships. I am excited to be joining such a wonderful team.”
Mrs. Melissa Chastain had this to say about the hiring of Ms. Henderson, “We are very excited to welcome Amber Henderson back to Mexico Public Schools as our District Human Resources Director. With her experience in Human Resources, we’re looking forward to her fostering great employee relationships that will help us carry on our goal of making Mexico Public Schools an exceptional place for our staff to grow.”
