Former Boone County Prosecutor at Risk for Indefinite Suspension

The Missouri Supreme Court heard accusations yesterday against former Boone County Prosecutor, Morley Swingle. Swingle is also a former assistant U.S. attorney.

The court has been asked to suspend his license. It is alleged that he had inappropriate relationships with defendants and crime victims in two separate incidents in Columbia in 2020 and 2021.

Swingle was previously “admonished” by the court for having a relationship with a crime victim in an active case when he was a prosecutor in Cape Girardeau County.

The advisory committee recommended an indefinite license suspension with the ability to apply for reinstatement after two years.

The Missouri Supreme Court will make the final decision.
