KWWR Sports Report 1/30/23

The teams are now set for Super Bowl 57 after yesterday’s conference championship games.

The Eagles manhandled the 49ers 31 – 7, but in the 49ers defense, they started with their 3rd string quarterback and ended with their 4th string in place.

Brock Purdy left with a right elbow injury early in the game while Josh Johnson was taken out in the third quarter on concussion protocols.

In the AFC, the 12th man at Arrowhead played a huge part in the Bengals coming up short against the Chiefs.

Patrick Mahomes had some issues with the high ankle sprain he suffered last week, but made it through the game.

Tied at 20 with seconds to go in the game, Harrison Butker’s field goal put the Chiefs on top 23 – 20 to punch their ticket to the Super Bowl on February 12th in Arizona.

The Blues dropped one on the road Saturday, losing to the Avalanche 4 – 2.

The Blues play the only game in the league tonight north of the border, taking on the Jets.

Puck drops in Winnipeg at 7.

In Mizzou basketball action over the weekend, the men dominated #12 Iowa State at home Saturday with a 78 – 61 win.

Yesterday, the women couldn’t pull off a season sweep of Kentucky, losing in Lexington 77 – 54.

The 98th Annual Bowling Green Tourney wrapped up over the weekend.

Friday, in girls action Elsberry took the championship, beating Silex 40 – 36 in overtime.

Winfield beat North Callaway by a point, 43 – 42 to take 3rd place and Clopton doubled up Louisiana 58 – 29 to take the consolation game.

In Saturday’s boys action, Winfield beat Elsberry in the championship game, 56 – 51.

Bowling Green defeated Van-Far to take 3rd place 51 – 47 and Clopton edged out Louisiana by a point 50 – 49 to win the consolation game.
