KWWR Sports Report 1/11/24

After being out of school for two days and not being able to play on Monday night due to weather, the Mexico Lady Bulldogs took care of business on Wednesday night with a 59-28 victory over Miller Career Academy on the consolation side of the bracket of the Warrenton Winter Shootout.

The Lady Bulldogs were placed in the losers bracket based on their initial #5 seed since they did not play on Monday.

Claire Hudson finished with 24 points, Jordyn Thurman recorded 12 points and Grace Hudson put up 10 points.

Mexico head coach Makenzie Mudd says “It has been a while since we were in a solid routine but I was very proud of our teamwork and energy in this game.

We were able to work in a lot of players for different lineups and I loved the team dynamic that we showed throughout the game.”

The Lady Bulldogs improved to 6-9 on the season.

Up next Mexico plays Hazelwood East tonight with a 5:30pm tip.

Missouri Women’s Basketball welcomes No. 1 South Carolina to Mizzou Arena tonight (Thursday).

The Mizzou women’s only win against a No. 1 team came against South Carolina on December 20, 2021 when they defeated the Gamecocks 70-69.

Tip-off tonight is at 7pm.

In some news that rocked college football yesterday, Nick Saban announced his retirement.

Saban won seven national championships and turned Alabama back into a national powerhouse that included six of those titles.

Saban spent 17 seasons in Tuscaloosa.

The St. Louis Blues are back on the ice tonight (Thursday), hosting the New York Rangers.
