KWWR Sports Report 1/16/24

The Mexico Girls Wrestling team hosted the Mexico Brick City Tournament at the Mexico High School on Monday, January 15, 2024.

Alizabeth Welch, Abby Bowen, Alexus John and Matt Tolbert each finished in 2nd place in their respective weight divisions.

Kiya Smith placed third in the 125 pound division.

The Missouri Tigers men’s basketball team is back on the road, making a trip to Alabama to face the Crimson Tide tonight (Tuesday). Missouri enters the contest with an 8-8 overall record.

Alabama owns an 11-5 record and is 3-0 in SEC play.

Tip-off is set for 6pm.

The Kansas City Chiefs will be on the road to face the Buffalo Bills on Sunday in the Divisional Round of the NFL playoffs.

The Buffalo Bills defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers 31-17 last night (Monday) in the Wild Card Round.

Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has never played a road playoff game during his career.

Kickoff on Sunday is set for 5:30pm.

In the other NFL Wild Card game last night (Monday) the Tampa Bay Buccaneers beat the Philadelphia Eagles 32-9.

In some baseball news the St. Louis Cardinals announced yesterday (Monday), the signing of 11 free-agent players representing the Dominican Republic, Venezuela, Mexico and Cuba on the first day of Major League Baseball’s international signing period for 2024.

Five pitchers, three outfielders, two shortstops, and one first baseman were among the signees who will be assigned to the Dominican Summer League.
