High School basketball takes center stage today in Harrisburg. It’s the Bulldog Summer Shootout for area varsity boys and girls basketball teams. Games get underway at 9:15 am in both the middle and high school gyms. 22 games overall… with teams from all over mid-Missouri.

Californian JJ Spaun with the dramatic win yesterday at the rain-soaked US Open. He hit a 64-foot birdie putt on the 18th to seal the win.

The Oakland A’s got a solo home run from Nick Kurtz yesterday in the top of the 9th inning, to defeat the Kansas City Royals, 3-2. Carlos Estevez took the loss. KC has lost 9 of their last 10.

St. Louis Cardinals split games over the weekend with the Milwaukee Brewers, losing 3-2 yesterday. Cardinals had runners on 2nd and 3rd with one out in the 9th and all three batters in the inning struck out. Milwaukee took 3 of 4 in the series as the Cardinals have lost 7 of their last 8 games.
