KWWR Sports Report 3/30/22
The Mexico Bulldogs high school baseball team defeated the Kirksville Tigers 5-2 last night (Tuesday) in Kirksville.
The Bulldogs got their offense started in the first inning when Tyler Thoenen doubled, scoring a run.
Mexico notched 3 runs in the 3rd with an offensive onslaught by Landyn Kleinsorge, and Tristan Playter, all driving in runs in the frame.
Austin Maxwell was the winning pitcher for the Bulldogs, allowing 3 hits and one run while striking out 2.
Andrew Runge threw 2 innings in relief and recorded the last 6 outs to earn the save for Mexico.
The Bulldogs improved to 5-1 on the season.
The St. Louis Cardinals will play the Washington Nationals in spring training today (Wednesday). Miles Mikolas is on the mound for the Redbirds. First pitch is at 12:05.
The Kansas City Royals face the San Francisco Giants. Carlos Hernandez takes the bump for the Royals. Game starts at 3:05.
