The Mexico Bulldogs baseball team edged out North Central Missouri Conference rival Moberly 3-2 on the road last night (Monday).

Mexico Bulldogs Varsity pitchers allowed just seven hits to the Moberly Spartans.

Austin Maxwell got the win for the Bulldogs, allowing seven hits and two runs over five and a third innings, striking out two and walking one.

Sam Ryan, Andrew Runge, Brayden Dunn, Tristan Playter, Daeye Miller and Landyn Kleinsorge each collected one hit to lead Mexico to the win.

The Bulldogs improved to 6-2 on the season and face the Fulton Hornets on the road on Thursday night.

The Mexico High School boys tennis team lost 7-2 to the Jefferson City Jays on the road yesterday (Monday).

The Bulldogs tennis boys will be back in action for another road meet in Marshall tonight (Tuesday) at 5:30.

The Mexico High School girls soccer team lost 8-0 on the road to the Hannibal Pirates last night (Monday). Head Coach Haley Schafer says “Overall, Hannibal is a very strong team. I was pleased with our defensive efforts. Players worked will off of each other splitting the roles of the field.” The Mexico girls soccer team is on the road tonight (Tuesday) against Marshall.

In spring training yesterday (Monday) the St. Louis Cardinals defeated the Washington Nationals 4-3.

It will be an early turnaround today (Tuesday) for the Redbirds when they play the Florida Marlins with a 10:05 first pitch.

The Kansas City Royals lost 10-6 to the Cincinnati Reds.

The Royals face the Milwaukee Brewers this afternoon at 2:10.

The St. Louis Blues beat the Arizona Coyotes 5-1 at the Enterprise Center last night (Monday).

The Blues scored 4 goals in the second period including 2 from Vladimir Tarasenko.

St. Louis is 4-0-1 in their past 5 games.

The Kansas Jayhawks won its fourth NCAA men’s basketball national championship last night (Monday), securing a 72-69 comeback win over North Carolina.

Kansas went into the half down 40-25 and then stormed back to outscore North Carolina by 18 points in the second half.

The 15-point comeback is the biggest in championship history.

The championship is Bill Self’s second as Kansas head coach.
