At beginning of the game, St. Louis fans stood to salute Wainwright and Molina, who started together for the 325th time, the most by a battery in major league history.

Fans waved towels with the No. 325, passed out as they entered Busch Stadium, and the ovations and tributes kept coming.

Brewers leadoff man Christian Yelich expressed his respect too. The Milwaukee star stood absolutely still and made no attempt to swing at Wainwright’s first pitch, a called strike.

The fans and the club kept celebrating as the Cards took the Brewers to town in a 4-1 victory over Milwaukee.

It’s the Reds against the Redbirds tonight at Busch Stadium as Cincinnati takes on St. Louis at 6:45 – Chase Anderson starts against Miles Mikolas.
