In spring training baseball yesterday, the Cards beat the Nationals 5 – 3 and the Royals doubled up the Guardians 12 – 6.

Today is an off day for St. Louis, the Royals take on Colorado at 2:10 this afternoon.

In girls high school basketball sectional action last night, Community R-6 Lady Trojans saw their season come to an end in a 61 – 41 loss to St. Elizabeth in Class 1.

In Class 2, Northeast Randolph County in Cairo knocked off Schuyler County 55 – 37 to advance to the quarterfinals.

Tipton also advances after ending New Franklin’s season 61 – 18.

In Class 3, South Shelby lives to fight another day after defeating Duchessne 56 – 36 and Skyline beat Montgomery County 53 – 36.

Boys quarterfinals start on Friday.

In Class 4 district play last night on the girls side, Kirksville beat Macon to advance to take on Centralia tomorrow night in the semifinals while Hallsville ended Mexico’s season and advances to take on Moberly tomorrow night.

Eldon ended Osage’s season and advances to take on Blair Oaks tomorrow night while Fatima handled Versailles and moves on to take on Owensville tomorrow night.

In Class 4 boys District semifinal action tonight, Macon takes on Hallsville at 6:00 followed by Mexico and Kirksville at 7:30 both in Moberly with the Mexico game streaming only at kxeo.com.

In Westphalia, Father Tolton takes on the Falcons of Blair Oaks at 6:00 followed by the Fatima Comets and Fulton Hornets at 7:30.

In Oak Grove, it’s Marshall playing Richmond at 6:00.

District play begins tonight for Classes 5 & 6 with Hannibal playing Ft. Zumwalt South at 7:00, the Jays of Jefferson City take on cross-town rival Capital City at 4:30 and Helias takes on Union at 6:00.

In Class 6, Rock Bridge gets Smith-Cotton at 6:00, Hickman meets Fort Osage at 6:00 and Battle battles Blue Springs South at 7:30.

The Missouri Tigers men’s basketball team is in action tonight on the road taking on the LSU Tigers.

Tip off set for 8:00 with a 7:30 pre-game show that will be heard on AM 1340.
