Adam Wainwright might not have had starting pitching duties yesterday for the season and home opener for the Redbirds, but he DID start the game.

Uncle Charlie sang the National Anthem ahead of the game.

St. Louis ended up losing the game to the Blue Jays 10 – 9.

Across the state at Kauffman, the Royals didn’t fare any better, getting shut out by the Twins 2 – 0.

In high school baseball yesterday, Moberly beat Boonville on the road 7 – 5, Southern Boone got the best of Centralia in the Anchor City, 11 – 1, and Clopton picked up a home win over Louisiana 5 – 4.

Mexico falls to 3 – 2 on the season after a loss to Hannibal on the road, 6 – 4 while the Atlanta varsity Hornets beat the struggling Kirksville Tigers JV team 9 – 6.

Montgomery County hosted Mark Twain and remain perfect on the season with a 10 – 0 shutout, and North Callaway improves to 3 – 2 on the season, winning over the now 0 – 3 Wright City Wildcats 8 – 3.

In Chicago, the Blues picked up a win over the Blackhawks, 5 – 3.
