William Woods University is announcing their first ever head football coach.

Director of Athletics Steve Wilson said yesterday (Thursday) they hired Julian Mendez to fill the role.

Mendez has 13 years of coaching experience.

He is currently the Offensive Coordinator and Recruiting Coordinator at Odessa, a Class 6A Texas High School.

William Woods plans to play their first ever football game in the fall of 2024.

The college is adding artificial turf field for both football and soccer.

Former Missouri athletic director Jim Sterk is returning to Western Washington, his alma mater, as the university’s athletic director.

The school made the announcement this week.

Sterk served as Mizzou’s athletic director from 2016-2021.
