KWWR Sports Report 7/28/23
The St. Louis Cardinals lost 10 – 3 to the Chicago Cubs in a wild night at Busch Stadium.
The mayhem unfolded in the first inning when Cubs outfielder Ian Happ hit Cardinals catcher Wilson Contreras in the head with a long-follow through swing.
Soon after Happ was hit by a pitch from Cardinals starting pitcher Miles Mikolas.
Both Mikolas and Cardinals manager Ollie Marmol were ejected.
Contreras had to leave the game due to being badly cut.
The Cardinals said Contreras had a scalp laceration and was day to day to return to the lineup.
Glue was used to close the wound and no stitches were required.
