First COVID-19 Death In Child Between Birth & 9 Years Old Reported In Boone County
Boone County is reporting their first death from COVID-19 in the birth to 9-year old age range.
The child died January 14th according to the Columbia / Boone County Public Health & Human Services’ daily update yesterday (Friday).
The agency reported 10 deaths on that report, some occurring in late 2021, others in January of 2022 and attributes the delay in reporting to the reconciliation of vital records and data.
As of February 2nd according to the CDC, there have been 287 deaths in the birth to 4-year old range and 623 deaths in the 5 to 18-year old range since the pandemic started.
